The Department of Shipping and Maritime Science (SMS), Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB), in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT),Malaysia, successfully organized the International Seminar on Sustainable Logistics and Transport: A Global Perspective on 10 August 2026 at the Auditorium of Canadian University of Bangladesh.

The international seminar brought together distinguished academicians, logistics and maritime professionals, students, researchers, alumni, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge and perspectives on the evolving global landscape of sustainable logistics and transport.

The programme was further enriched by the excellent remarks of the ProfessorA. S. M. Sirajul Haque, Treasurer of Canadian University of Bangladesh, who highlighted the importance of international collaboration, quality higher education, and professional development in strengthening the future of the maritime sector.

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Ts. Dr. Muhammad Zaly Shah bin Muhammad Hussein, FCILT, President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILT Malaysia). His insightful presentation explored contemporary trends in logistics and transport, emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and international collaboration as key drivers for building resilient and efficient supply chains. He also placed particular emphasis on the growing significance of Halal Logistics and its increasing role in the global supply chain and logistics industry.

The seminar also featured insightful presentations by Ts. Dr. Mohd Saiful Izwaan Bin Saadon, CMILT, Director, Malaysian Logistics and Transport Centre (MaLTraC), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and Dr. Nik Muhamad Afiz Bin Harom @ Junoh, Head of the Programme Development Unit, MaLTraC, UMT. They shared their expertise and perspectives on sustainable logistics, transport, professional development, and emerging global opportunities. They also expressed their appreciation to the Department of Shipping and Maritime Science, CUB, for organizing the international platform.

Dr. Kazi Abu Taher, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, and Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Canadian University of Bangladesh, delivered a speech at the seminar. Prof. Dr. Fazilatun Nessa, Dean, School of Public Health and Life Sciences, Canadian University of Bangladesh, also delivered a speech at the seminar.

Capt. Md. Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of Shipping and Maritime Science, CUB, served as the Moderator and Speaker. Through his excellent moderation, he facilitated an engaging and meaningful exchange of ideas among the distinguished speakers and participants. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to all guests, speakers, faculty members, students, alumni, maritime professionals, and participants for joining the programme and contributing to its success.

The seminar provided an important platform for knowledge sharing, international networking, and academic collaboration between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
