Grading Policy


Accreditation:

Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) has been accredited by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and its curricula as well as programs have been approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The Vice Chancellor is an appointee of the President of the Country in his capacity as the Chancellor of the University.

Medium of Instruction:

English is the officially approved medium of instruction in Canadian University of Bangladesh.

Grading System:

Canadian University of Bangladesh maintains a Uniform Grading System as per the rule of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
0.00 to 4.00 point scale letter grades indicating the quality of course work completed are interpreted as follows:

  • Courses that have been waived/transferred do not display a grade; they are presented by course and the number of credits.
  • Credits accepted as waiver/transfer from other universities are counted towards degree, except for Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) calculation.
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated by Total Grade Points divided by Total Credit Counted.
  • In case of retaken courses, only the better grades are counted in the CGPA calculation but the grade point of the course previously done is shown in the transcript as 0.0.

Gold Medal:
  • *The Chancellor`s Gold Medal is for the recipients of the highest CGPA for Undergraduate and Graduate programs.

  • **The Vice Chancellor`s Gold Medal is for the recipients of the 2nd highest CGPA for Undergraduate and Graduate programs.
