Entry Requirements

Our courses have specific entry requirements in accordance with UGC that you will need to fulfil before getting admitted.
“Simple & effective admission gateway with well experience dedicated counsellor and student support wing.”
For admission into any undergraduate program in CUB, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
(1) A minimum GPA of 2.5 (out of 5.0) or equivalent individually in both SSC and HSC or equivalent public examinations. However, students with GPA 2.00 in any examination either SSC or HSC or equivalent must have a minimum GPA of 6.00 after totaling GPAs of both the examinations; or
For student of 0-Level & A-Level, one must complete at least 5 subjects in 0-Level & at least 2 subjects in A-Level. Out of the 7 subjects, s/he must obtain B Grade or GPA 4.00 in Four subjects and in rest 3 subjects Grade C or GPA 3.50;
or U. S. High School Diploma, IB Diploma Program (IB-DP) or any other degree equivalent to 12 years of study (must have the equivalence certificate from the Ministry of Education).
(2) The applicant must qualify in competency test for admission into the undergraduate program. For International students, competency test may be exempted/varied based on previous academic accords.
For the programs of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Shipping and Maritime Science (SMS) under the School of Science and Engineering, candidates must have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (abbreviated as PCM) with satisfactory grade in HSC, A-level or equivalent examination to be eligible for application.
(3) Freedom Fighter Quota
If the prospective student is a son/daughter of a freedom fighter, as per rules of the UGC, he/she must have a minimum GPA of 5.00 after totaling GPAs of SSC and HSC examinations. To be eligible for such an exemption, the prospective student must submit attested photocopies of
(i) “Provisional Certificate” as a prove of freedom fighter from the Ministry of Liberation Was Affairs; (ii) Mukti Barta; (iii) Gazette; (iv) “National ID” of the freedom fighter; (v) Birth Certificate (also death certificate, if applicable) of the freedom fighter; (vi) Database of freedom fighters information; and (vii) Government allowance book.
Admission Eligibility for MBA program
For admission into MBA program in CUB, the applicant must meet all of the following three requirements:
(1) Minimum a 4-year bachelor degree in Business Administration (i.e., BBA) or equivalent program from a reputed university with at least a GPA of 2.50 (out of 4.0) or equivalent; or
A 3-year bachelor degree in Business Administration (i.e., BBA) or equivalent program from a reputed university with at least a GPA of 2.50 (out of 4.0) or equivalent and at least one-year work experience in a managerial/executive position.
(2) The applicant’s academic background must meet the academic qualification equivalent to the requirement for admission into the undergraduate program in CUB.
(3) The applicant must qualify in competency test for admission into the MBA program. For International students, competency test may be exempted/varied based on previous academic accords.
Admission Eligibility for EMBA program
For admission into Executive MBA (EMBA) program in CUB, the applicant must meet both of the following requirements:
(1) Minimum a 4-year bachelor degree in any program or equivalent from a reputed university with at least a GPA of 2.50 (out of 4.0) or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years professional experience; or
Minimum a 3-year bachelor degree in any program or equivalent from a reputed university with at least a GPA of 2.50 (out of 4.0) or equivalent plus a minimum of 4 years professional experience; or
Minimum a 2-year bachelor degree in any program or equivalent from a reputed university with at least a GPA of 2.50 (out of 4.0) or equivalent plus a minimum of 8 years professional experience.
(2) The applicant must qualify in competency test for admission into the EMBA program. For International students, competency test may be exempted/varied based on previous academic accords.
1. 4 (Four) recent passport-sized color photographs, duly signed by student;
2. Photocopies of all academic certificates and mark sheets/transcripts attested by the admission officer of CUB after verifying the original;
3. Photocopies of birth certificate/NID attested by the admission officer of CUB after verifying the original;
and
4. Job certificates (for MBA and EMBA students only).

Admission Policy for Credit Transfer and Credit Exemption Student
When a prospective student wants to transfer credits from the same or similar program of another reputed university or get credit exemption, the student need to apply to the Dean of the respective school with copies of official transcript issued by that university or other supporting documents for credit exemption, which are to be certified by CUB admission officer and submit it to the admission office. The Dean of the respective school will arrange an equivalence and credit exemption committee meeting and will provide a certificate detailing the credit exemption and/or transfer of credits. The certificate must contain signature of all members of the committee. If the prospective student is satisfied with the credit transfer certificate or credit exemption certificate, then he/she can complete other formalities for admission subject to meeting the admission requirement criteria.
Canadian University of Bangladesh only accepts less than or equal to 50% transfer of credits required for graduation from this university, i.e., the student must complete at least 50% credits from CUB for graduation.

Q3. How many terms are offered yearly at CUB and when do they start?
An academic year at Canadian University of Bangladesh is divided into three trimesters: Spring, Summer and Fall. Each trimester runs for a period of four months. Admission is open in every trimester. Students seeking admission in Canadian University of Bangladesh are required to fulfill university admission requirements. Hence, the prospective students are required to collect admission form and relevant information from admission office at least two months ahead from the starting of each trimester. Completed applications along with the required documents must then be submitted to the admission office as per deadline. The duration of the trimesters and tentative admission schedule are as follows: Spring Trimester (January- April): The tentative admission period is from mid of November to end of December. Summer Trimester (May – August): The tentative admission period is from mid of March to end of April. Fall Trimester (September- December): The tentative admission period is from mid of July to end of August.

The students who have completed O-Level and A-Level must complete at least 5 subjects in O-Level and at least 2 subjects in A-Level. Out of the 7 subjects, the prospective student must obtain at least B Grade (i.e., GPA 4.00) in four subjects and at least C Grades (i.e., GPA 3.50) for the remaining 3 subjects.

For becoming eligible of admission into EMBA program, the prospective students must have at least 2-years professional work experiences after graduation.

The prospective students have to submit copies of all previous academic documents attested by the admission office of Canadian University of Bangladesh during admission. Students completing previous studies from abroad must submit the equivalence certificates from the secondary and higher secondary education board, Dhaka along with the original documents.
Q11. For admission into postgraduate programs, what are the documents to submit by the candidate who completed the graduation and/or other previous studies from abroad?
Candidates completing certificates equivalent to SSC/HSC must collect equivalence certificates from the secondary and higher secondary education board, Dhaka and completing undergraduate program must collect equivalence certificates from University Grants Commission (UGC). The prospective students must submit copies of all previous academic certificates along with the equivalence certificates during admission, which are to be attested by the admission office of Canadian University of Bangladesh.

Canadian University of Bangladesh does not offer any online course or online degree program. Q15. Is there any evening class for undergraduate programs?
Canadian University of Bangladesh does not offer any evening class for undergraduate programs except those for diploma holders and ACCA certified students. Since many students completing diploma and ACCA are serving in different organizations, CUB offers special classes for them at the evening or on weekend. Regular students are not allowed to attend those classes. Not only that, due to considering financial conditions of the students completing diploma in CSE and EEE from polytechnic institutions, they can study in CUB at significantly subsidize rate of tuition fees. As like evening classes, the subsidize rate of tuition fees is also not applicable for regular students. Subsidize rate of tuition fees is also not applicable for ACCA certified students as they are not part of underprivileged society.
Q16. Is there any evening class for postgraduate programs?
All the classes of postgraduate programs are held in the evening and/or weekend so that the students can attend classes besides their regular job.

Q19. How can I submit photograph and documents as a part of online application?
Applicants are required to upload the scanned copies of all documents and recent passport size photograph taken within last three months with the online application.

Q21. How much is the admission fee?
The applicant needs to pay a non-refundable admissions fee of Tk. 15,000 only after being qualified and meeting admission requirements.
Q22. Do I need to appear in admission test for undergraduate and/or postgraduate admission?
The applicant must qualify in competency test for admission into both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For International students, competency test may be exempted/varied based on previous academic accords.

Q24. What are the facilities available for the students?
The CUB Authority is well aware to create a congenial educational environment in the campus. The university provides lots of facilities required for smooth mental development and physical growth of a student, besides ensuring the best quality of learning in Bangladesh. The university has free WIFi, indoor game facilities, laboratories, canteen and more than dozens of clubs.
Q25. Is there an adequate library facility available?
Yes, library facilities are available for both the students and teachers. Anyone can easily get required books/journals/magazines and other information in library as a hardcopy and/or softcopy.
Q26. What types of safety measures are available in the university?
The university has required safety equipment for emergency purposes. Each point of the university campus is under video surveillance using CC camera, TV and storage devices. There are three types of fire safety equipment in every important corner in each floor of the university. The campus is smoking and drug free and monitored using technological equipment by the security office under the guidelines of the proctor office. Every member including faculty, staffs and students must follow the code of conduct of the university in strict manner. Sexual harassment prevention cell under the proctor office strictly control any type of harassment in the university campus.
Q27. How can parents and/or family members of current students stay informed about the progress of their son/daughter?
The university has unique and well-designed software, named University Management Software through (UMS), for facilitating all management people, faculty members, officers, staffs, students and guardians for carrying out all sorts of university related activities and providing all required information regarding any issue from admission to certification. Guardians can monitor their son/daughters’ class attendance, financial status, results and other progress report in UMS. For academic activities, the university used the world-reputed software called Moodle, through which all sorts of academic activities like making course materials available online, taking online assignment and quiz, and promoting academic discussion among the students and course teacher individually for each course. Q28. Is there any part-time job available for the students in the university?
Yes, considering the potentiality of the student, university may provide part-time job facilities to the student at the university campus. The part-time job-facilities also depend on the academic results of that particular student along with his/her strong mentality of doing well in every case. The part-time job is not available for the fresher student, i.e., in first year. Therefore, a student may apply for part-time job in the university campus from the second year.
Q29. How can I change my program?
To change program after getting admission, you need to collect a program change form from the Registrar’s office, fill it up, need to collect the consents from the heads of the both programs and then submit it to the registrar office again for processing. For changing program, it is required to get permission from the Honorable Vice-Chancellor and must meet the admission requirements of the desired program.
Q30. Are there any hostel facilities in Canadian University of Bangladesh?
CUB does not have its own hostel for students’ accommodation, but provide assistance in arranging accommodation facilities for both local and international students. CUB is in the heart of Dhaka city and there are lots of hostels and houses at the walking distance from the university. Students are requested to communicate with the residential assistance office for getting helps of arranging accommodations.
Q34. As a student, where can I get supports like changing my address, dropping a trimester, making complaints and/or collecting testimonial?
Canadian University of Bangladesh has a Student Service Wing (SSW) under the Registrar office. The SSW is dedicated for providing any type of services and supports to the existing student. For any service like change of address, collecting studentship certificate, testimonial, certificates and transcripts, making complaints, dropping trimesters and/or for any other services, the students need to contact with SSW. The students may fill up forms for certain services. There are definite policies for getting each of service and SSW is dedicated to provide all the services needed by an existing student under the given policy.
Q35. Whether the university provides extra-curricular facilities for the students?
Yes, the university organizes various events including cultural, sports, moot courts, seminars, workshops and training programs under 13 (thirteen) clubs. Beside these, each department and office of Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) organizes different events, daylong programs, industrial tours and picnics.

Q38. What is tutorial Based Education? Does any other university have such a teaching strategy?
Tutorial Based Education accumulates all of the good features extracted from both the traditional education system and the latest problem based learning (PBL) to ensure the current direction of Outcome Based Education (OBE). In this system, for a 3:00 CH course, there is a 2 (two) hours lecture class and then a 2 (two) hours tutorial class on the same topic on another day. In the lecture class, the teacher discusses the theoretical aspects on a particular topic. A tutorial class has two parts: discussion on lecture class and solving real life problems. In the first part of a tutorial class, the teacher provides students a problem set that covers all the key points discussed in the previous lecture and the students solves the problems individually and through group discussion. During the individual problem solving time, the teacher walks-around within the class and assist the students for solving the problems. Then the teacher forms a small group comprising of 2 or more students to encourage them to learn through group studies in problem solving. The teacher then gives some real life problems based on the lecture and problem set to the students and assists them for solving those inside the classroom. By following these strategies, the students acquires skills, not only knowledge, and be able learn solving the real-life challenges to obtain the objectives of OBE. Canadian University of Bangladesh is the first university that started such a classroom based learning strategy in which the students learns both the knowledge and the skills inside the classrooms to fulfill our motto of “inspiring applied knowledge”.

An academic year at Canadian University of Bangladesh is divided into three trimesters: Spring, Summer and Fall. Each trimester runs for a period of four months. Admission is open in every trimester. Students seeking admission in Canadian University of Bangladesh are required to fulfill university admission requirements. Hence, the prospective students are required to collect admission form and relevant information from admission office at least two months ahead from the starting of each trimester. Completed applications along with the required documents must then be submitted to the admission office as per deadline. The duration of the trimesters and tentative admission schedule are as follows: Spring Trimester (January- April): The tentative admission period is from mid of November to end of December. Summer Trimester (May – August): The tentative admission period is from mid of March to end of April. Fall Trimester (September- December): The tentative admission period is from mid of July to end of August.

The students who have completed O-Level and A-Level must complete at least 5 subjects in O-Level and at least 2 subjects in A-Level. Out of the 7 subjects, the prospective student must obtain at least B Grade (i.e., GPA 4.00) in four subjects and at least C Grades (i.e., GPA 3.50) for the remaining 3 subjects.
Q9. How many years of work experiences do the applicant requires for applying in the EMBA program?
For becoming eligible of admission into EMBA program, the prospective students must have at least 2-years professional work experiences after graduation.
Q10. For admission into undergraduate programs, what are the documents to submit by the candidate who have completed their certification from abroad?
The prospective students have to submit copies of all previous academic documents attested by the admission office of Canadian University of Bangladesh during admission. Students completing previous studies from abroad must submit the equivalence certificates from the secondary and higher secondary education board, Dhaka along with the original documents.
Q11. For admission into postgraduate programs, what are the documents to submit by the candidate who completed the graduation and/or other previous studies from abroad?
Candidates completing certificates equivalent to SSC/HSC must collect equivalence certificates from the secondary and higher secondary education board, Dhaka and completing undergraduate program must collect equivalence certificates from University Grants Commission (UGC). The prospective students must submit copies of all previous academic certificates along with the equivalence certificates during admission, which are to be attested by the admission office of Canadian University of Bangladesh.
Q12. Whether any scholarship policy is available for the students of CUB?
Canadian University of Bangladesh provides scholarship and financial aid in various categories.
Q13. Does CUB accept any credits completed in other educational institution? Or Does CUB accept any credit transfer students?
When a prospective student wants to transfer credits from the same or similar program of another reputed university or get credit exemption, the student need to apply to the Dean of the respective school with copies of official transcript issued by that university or other supporting documents for credit exemption, which are to be certified by CUB admission officer and submit it to the admission office. The Dean of the respective school will arrange an equivalence and credit exemption committee meeting and will provide a certificate detailing the credit exemption and/or transfer of credits. The certificate must contain signature of all members of the committee. If the prospective student is satisfied with the credit transfer certificate or credit exemption certificate, then he/she can complete other formalities for admission subject to meeting the admission requirement criteria. Canadian University of Bangladesh only accepts less than or equal to 50% transfer of credits required for graduation from this university, i.e., the student must complete at least 50% credits from CUB for graduation.
Q14. Does CUB offer any online courses?
Canadian University of Bangladesh does not offer any online course or online degree program. Q15. Is there any evening class for undergraduate programs?
Canadian University of Bangladesh does not offer any evening class for undergraduate programs except those for diploma holders and ACCA certified students. Since many students completing diploma and ACCA are serving in different organizations, CUB offers special classes for them at the evening or on weekend. Regular students are not allowed to attend those classes. Not only that, due to considering financial conditions of the students completing diploma in CSE and EEE from polytechnic institutions, they can study in CUB at significantly subsidize rate of tuition fees. As like evening classes, the subsidize rate of tuition fees is also not applicable for regular students. Subsidize rate of tuition fees is also not applicable for ACCA certified students as they are not part of underprivileged society.
Q16. Is there any evening class for postgraduate programs?
All the classes of postgraduate programs are held in the evening and/or weekend so that the students can attend classes besides their regular job.

Applicants are required to upload the scanned copies of all documents and recent passport size photograph taken within last three months with the online application.

The applicant needs to pay a non-refundable admissions fee of Tk. 15,000 only after being qualified and meeting admission requirements.

The applicant must qualify in competency test for admission into both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For International students, competency test may be exempted/varied based on previous academic accords.

The CUB Authority is well aware to create a congenial educational environment in the campus. The university provides lots of facilities required for smooth mental development and physical growth of a student, besides ensuring the best quality of learning in Bangladesh. The university has free WIFi, indoor game facilities, laboratories, canteen and more than dozens of clubs.

Yes, library facilities are available for both the students and teachers. Anyone can easily get required books/journals/magazines and other information in library as a hardcopy and/or softcopy.
Q26. What types of safety measures are available in the university?
The university has required safety equipment for emergency purposes. Each point of the university campus is under video surveillance using CC camera, TV and storage devices. There are three types of fire safety equipment in every important corner in each floor of the university. The campus is smoking and drug free and monitored using technological equipment by the security office under the guidelines of the proctor office. Every member including faculty, staffs and students must follow the code of conduct of the university in strict manner. Sexual harassment prevention cell under the proctor office strictly control any type of harassment in the university campus.

The university has unique and well-designed software, named University Management Software through (UMS), for facilitating all management people, faculty members, officers, staffs, students and guardians for carrying out all sorts of university related activities and providing all required information regarding any issue from admission to certification. Guardians can monitor their son/daughters’ class attendance, financial status, results and other progress report in UMS. For academic activities, the university used the world-reputed software called Moodle, through which all sorts of academic activities like making course materials available online, taking online assignment and quiz, and promoting academic discussion among the students and course teacher individually for each course. Q28. Is there any part-time job available for the students in the university?
Yes, considering the potentiality of the student, university may provide part-time job facilities to the student at the university campus. The part-time job-facilities also depend on the academic results of that particular student along with his/her strong mentality of doing well in every case. The part-time job is not available for the fresher student, i.e., in first year. Therefore, a student may apply for part-time job in the university campus from the second year.
Q29. How can I change my program?
To change program after getting admission, you need to collect a program change form from the Registrar’s office, fill it up, need to collect the consents from the heads of the both programs and then submit it to the registrar office again for processing. For changing program, it is required to get permission from the Honorable Vice-Chancellor and must meet the admission requirements of the desired program.

CUB does not have its own hostel for students’ accommodation, but provide assistance in arranging accommodation facilities for both local and international students. CUB is in the heart of Dhaka city and there are lots of hostels and houses at the walking distance from the university. Students are requested to communicate with the residential assistance office for getting helps of arranging accommodations.
Q34. As a student, where can I get supports like changing my address, dropping a trimester, making complaints and/or collecting testimonial?
Canadian University of Bangladesh has a Student Service Wing (SSW) under the Registrar office. The SSW is dedicated for providing any type of services and supports to the existing student. For any service like change of address, collecting studentship certificate, testimonial, certificates and transcripts, making complaints, dropping trimesters and/or for any other services, the students need to contact with SSW. The students may fill up forms for certain services. There are definite policies for getting each of service and SSW is dedicated to provide all the services needed by an existing student under the given policy.
