Seminar on "Maritime Entrepreneurship: Unlocking Opportunities & Overcoming Challenges"
The Department of Shipping and Maritime Science at the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) proudly hosted an inspiring seminar on "Maritime Entrepreneurship: Unlocking Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges" on Monday, 25 August 2025, at the university auditorium. The seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, networking, and inspiring the next generation of maritime professionals.
The keynote address was delivered by Capt. AKM Golam Kibria, Maritime Visionary and Chairman of MH Global Group, who emphasized innovation, sustainable business practices, and the growing importance of Bangladesh in the international maritime sector. He highlighted the role of maritime platforms like this seminar in bridging academia and industry, while also encouraging youth to explore entrepreneurship in areas such as ship chartering and maritime services. His inspiring remarks motivated students and professionals to adopt forward-looking strategies and seize emerging global opportunities.
The Guest Speaker, Capt. Quazi Muhammed Ahsan, Nautical Surveyor and Examiner at the Department of Shipping. Provided practical insights into Maritime Single Window (MSW). Regulatory frameworks, and the skills required to navigate complex maritime ventures. His detailed speech gave participants a deeper understanding of both challenges and opportunities within the Sector
The program was further enriched by remarks from university officials. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. H M Jahirul Haque extended his gratitude through a video message, appreciating the guests and organizers. Treasurer Prof. A. S. M. Sirajul Haque praised the initiative, recognizing it as a significant effort to connect students with maritime leaders. Registrar Mr. ASMG Faruk contributed academic and administrative perspectives, reinforcing the university's commitment to nurturing future maritime leaders.
The seminar was moderated by Capt. Md Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Shipping and Maritime Science, who also delivered the vote of thanks. He acknowledged the contributions of all speakers, university officials, faculty, and students, and emphasized the importance of such knowledge-sharing sessions in shaping the future of maritime entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
