Inauguration of the 3rd CUB Intra-Department Moot Court Competition 2024
The Department of Law at the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) inaugurated the 3rd CUB Intra-Department Moot Court Competition on November 2, 2024. This annual event, organized by the CUB Law & Moot Club (CUBLMC), provides students with a platform to develop their legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, essential for future careers in law.
The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Mashrur Rahman Mahin, Lecturer in the Department of Law and Adviser to the CUB Law & Moot Club. Emphasizing the significance of consistency in mooting, he remarked, “Progress in mooting is an ongoing process. It requires us to equip future generations with the knowledge and skills of mooting.” His words set an encouraging tone for the event, underscoring the commitment required to excel in moot court competitions.
Following Mr. Mashrur's remarks, Mohammad Sunzad Sheikh, Head of the Department of Law, delivered the inaugural speech. He expressed his admiration for the participants, highlighting their dedication and the high-quality memorials they prepared for the competition. "Our new mooters have truly exceeded expectations with their impressive memorials," Mr. Sheikh noted. He voiced optimism that with sustained effort and commitment, CUB could one day establish itself as a leading moot team on the national and international stage.
After the inauguration, teams exchanged their memorials, marking the official beginning of the competition. The preliminary rounds are set to take place on November 3, 2024, with the semi-final and final rounds scheduled for November 4.
This year's competition promises to be a significant learning experience for all participants, fostering a culture of rigorous legal debate and research at CUB. The Department of Law remains committed to supporting students as they build foundational skills in mooting, equipping them for the competitive field of law.
