Sumaiya Islam Mrittika

Sumaiya Islam Mrittika is a dedicated law lecturer at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, known for her commitment to advancing legal knowledge and community service. She has completed her LL.B. (Honors) and LL.M. degrees from the University of Dhaka. Mrittika brings extensive academic and practical experience to her role, having served as an apprentice lawyer at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and as a Petition Drafter / Case Manager at a U.S.-based immigration law firm. Her advocacy extends beyond the classroom and professional platforms - she has organized moot court competitions and legal awareness workshops in collaboration with different Universities, NGOs, and INGOs, focusing on human rights for marginalized communities, including the Horizon and Hijra groups. A strong proponent of social justice, Mrittika’s research encompasses refugee rights and the empowerment of vulnerable populations, strengthened by her participation in the UNHCR Certificate Course on Refugee Law. Mrittika’s expertise and passion for law position her as a promising voice in legal academia.
