Dr. Sadia Mehjabeen Kanta

Dr. Sadia Mehjabeen Kanta is a Lecturer and public health researcher in the Department of Public Health at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, with an academic and professional background in public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases, and health research. She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), under Bangladesh Medical University (BMU).
Before joining the Canadian University of Bangladesh, she worked in research and public health roles with Bangladesh Medical University, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), NIPSOM, and other research organizations. Her research experience includes infectious disease epidemiology, occupational health, antibiotic prescribing, oral health, and health systems.
Her current research interests focus on communicable and non-communicable diseases, antimicrobial resistance, health inequalities, and population health. She has contributed to peer-reviewed research and research projects addressing important public health challenges in Bangladesh. She received a student research grant from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council and a grant from the Directorate General of Medical Education.
As a lecturer, she teaches and mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students in public health, contributes to research activities, and supports students in developing research skills. Her long-term goal is to conduct policy-relevant research that contributes to strengthening health systems in Bangladesh and improving health outcomes among populations in low- and middle-income countries.
