Short Biography
Dr. Rokshana Rabeya is a public health academic and researcher with extensive experience in research and education and a significant body of national and international publications.
Her research has addressed maternal and child health, adolescent health, nutrition security, mental well-being, reproductive health behaviors, and workplace health with a particular focus on advancing health equity among women, adolescents, children, and vulnerable populations in Bangladesh. She has published research on menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls, highlighting the roles of education, parental awareness, and socioeconomic conditions in shaping health behaviors.
Her work also includes maternal and child nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding practices, and occupational health among women working in the garment sector. In addition, she has investigated geriatric nutritional status, comorbidities, and mental health among rural populations, as well as depressive symptoms among people living with HIV/AIDS, contributing to a better understanding of the psychosocial and demographic determinants of health outcomes.
Dr. Rabeya also has expertise in molecular biology and DNA repair research, contributing to the understanding of cellular resistance mechanisms in cancer-related studies. Her clinical research experience includes thyroid disorders and dyslipidemia, integrating biomedical and public health perspectives to address complex health challenges.
Her recent research interests include environmental health, particularly the relationship between housing conditions and respiratory infections among children. Through academic and research collaborations with national and international partners, she contributes evidence-based knowledge to inform public health policy, nutrition programs, and health promotion initiatives in Bangladesh.
In addition to research, Dr. Rabeya has extensive experience in classroom teaching, OBE curriculum development for both BPH and MPH programs, student counseling, teacher training, and academic program management. She is self-motivated, dedicated, and diligent, with strong analytical and quantitative skills. She demonstrates effective leadership, decision-making, task delegation, and teamwork, and is committed to fostering a positive and collaborative academic environment.
