Short Biography

Naimul Islam is a public health academic and data specialist with more than 13 years of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, and health data systems supporting large-scale public health and development programmes in Bangladesh. He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, and a Master of Science (MS) in Statistics, Biostatistics and Informatics from the University of Dhaka, where he also completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in the same discipline.
He currently serves as Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB), where he teaches biostatistics, epidemiology, research methods and data analytics, and mentors students in research design and statistical analysis. He also serves as a Guest Lecturer at the James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, and continues as a Short-Term Consultant with the World Bank, developing analytical dashboards and evidence syntheses that support evaluation-oriented policy dialogue.
Prior to his academic career, Naimul spent over a decade with the BRAC Health Programme, rising from Senior MIS Officer to Senior Manager, Data Science and Evaluation, where he led data science and MEL operations for programmes reaching approximately 65 million people, architected health data warehouse and dashboard infrastructure, and established organisation-wide data quality standards. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and presented at numerous international conferences on digital health, mHealth, and population health informatics.
He holds professional certifications including the Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Project DPro® credentials, and is committed to advancing evidence-based public health research, teaching, and data-driven policy.

Epidemiological research, biostatistics, health database management and data systems (OpenSRP, DHIS2, Shared Health Record), mHealth and digital health systems, population health informatics, data visualization and analytics, programme evaluation and MEL frameworks
