Maria Haider

Maria Haider is a Lecturer in the Department of Public Health at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, with an academic and professional background in public health, environmental health, and air pollution research. She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health & Informatics from Jahangirnagar University, where she graduated with a CGPA of 4.00/4.00, and a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) in Public Health & Informatics with a CGPA of 3.68/4.00.

Before joining the Canadian University of Bangladesh, she worked as a Research Assistant with the Climate Change, Air Quality and Health Research Unit in the Department of Public Health at Jahangirnagar University, contributing to research on air pollution, climate change, and public health. She also worked as a Project Supervisor for the Updating Revised Strategic Transport Plan (URSTP) project, where she supervised field data collection and research assistants.

Her current research interests include environmental health, air pollution and personal exposure, indoor air quality, climate-related health risks, and child health. She is currently involved in an ICIMOD collaborative research project investigating air pollution exposure among primary school students through behavioral interventions and high-frequency surveys. She also serves as a Co-Supervisor at the COOL (Childhood Obesity and Optimal Living) Lab, contributing to research on 24-hour movement behaviours and BMI among Bangladeshi school-aged children.

Her research experience has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in environmental health and public health journals, and she has received the National Science and Technology Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh.
