Workshop on Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF)
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of CUB successfully hosted a workshop on BNQF on 09th November, 2024 at the CUB Auditorium.
Professor A.S.M. Sirajul Haque, Honorable Treasurer and Vice chancellor (in-charge), Canadian University of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. The session was Chaired by Professor Dr. Zahurul Alam, Director of IQAC. Professor Abul H. M. G. Azam, Professor-cum-Adviser, East West University was the Keynote Speaker.
The workshop began with an inaugural address by the Chair, who highlighted the critical role of BNQF in enhancing the credibility and transferability of Bangladeshi qualifications within the global landscape.
The Chief Guest Prof. A.S.M. Sirajul Haque underlined the relevance of BNQF implementation. He reiterated proactive role of CUB in ensuring compliance to all GOB and UGC Guidelines since the inception.
The Keynote Professor Abul H. M. G. Azam focused on integrating BNQF standards into curriculum design across various academic programs, including three and four year Bachelor’s programs, five year Bachelor’s programs, and two-year Master’s programs, with alignment to the criteria of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. He also outlined key strategies for curriculum integration, highlighting methods for embedding BNQF requirements into academic program structures, assessment criteria, and skill development initiatives. Prof. Azam explained the challenges commonly faced when applying the BNQF.
An engaging Open Discussion and Q&A session marked a significant part of the workshop, facilitated by Professor Azam. The session provided an open forum for participants to delve deeper into the practical aspects of BNQF implementation, sharing both challenges and solutions.
The workshop concluded with a pledge from participants to actively support the adoption of BNQF within their respective institutions, helping to foster quality education in Bangladesh and prepare graduates for the competitive global market. Dr. Ifat Al Baqee, Additional Director of IQAC thanked all participants, expressing optimism that the insights gained would drive future initiatives to uphold academic excellence across Bangladeshi institutions.
