A collaborative webinar titled "Development of Marine Professionals: Way Forward for Higher Education" was held on Sunday, 12 January 2025, jointly organized by the Department of Shipping & Maritime Science (Canadian University of Bangladesh) and the Faculty of Maritime Studies (FMS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).

The event, aimed at exploring avenues for advancing marine education and professional development, was attended by distinguished academics and maritime professionals from both institutions.

Keynote Speaker Capt. Md. Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Shipping and Maritime Science at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, shared his insights on the evolving demands of the maritime industry and the role of higher education in preparing future professionals.

The webinar began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Gias U. Ahsan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh. Other notable speakers included the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies, the Head of the Programme for Nautical Science and Maritime Transport, and the Deputy Dean (Research) from the University of Malaysia Terengganu. Faculty members, students from the Department of Shipping and Maritime Science at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, and invited guests also actively participated.

The session covered key topics such as enhancing academic programs, fostering research collaboration, and bridging the gap between industry expectations and academic output. The speakers emphasized the importance of international partnerships in nurturing skilled professionals for the global maritime industry.

The webinar concluded with a lively Q&A session, where participants engaged in meaningful discussions about the future of maritime education and professional growth.
