Canadian University of Bangladeshs

I am happy to know that Canadian University of Bangladesh is going to publish a year book to mark its first anniversary. On this occasion, I would like to congratulate the board of trustees, faculty members, staff and students of the University.

The Awami League government has given utmost priority on higher education to facilitate country's socio-economic development. In this regard, we adopted a modern, scientific and time-befitting Education Policy to ensure quality education. We enacted Private University Act-2010 to boost up higher education facilities. Since 2009, the government established 8 public universities and gave permission to set up and operate 42 private universities. Private universities have become an integral part of our government's endeavours to build a knowledge-based society.

I hope that Canadian University of Bangladesh will play a vital role in building a Sonar Bangladesh as dreamt by the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
