
Seminar on Higher Education Opportunities for Bangladeshi Ratings Held at NMI, Madaripur
The Department of Shipping and Maritime Science (SMS), Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) participated in a seminar titled "Exploring Higher Education Opportunities for Bangladeshi Ratings" on 1 August 2026 at the National Maritime Institute (NMI), Madaripur.
The seminar featured Capt. Md. Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor & Chairman, Department of Shipping and Maritime Science, Canadian University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. In his keynote address, he emphasized the importance of higher education, continuous professional development, and lifelong learning in preparing Bangladeshi ratings to meet the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

The session was presided over by Engr. Mohammad Shahid Ullah, Principal, National Maritime Institute (NMI), Madaripur, who highlighted the importance of strengthening academic and professional competencies to develop a skilled and globally competitive maritime workforce.
The seminar also included speeches by Dr. Kazi Mohiuddin, Senior Lecturer, and Farjana Akter Faija, Lecturer, from the Department of Shipping and Maritime Science, Canadian University of Bangladesh. In their speeches, they discussed the value of higher education, professional skills development, and lifelong learning in building successful maritime careers, encouraging participants to pursue academic excellence and continuous professional growth.

The seminar concluded successfully, providing an engaging platform for participants to explore higher education opportunities, career advancement pathways, and the importance of academic qualifications for Bangladeshi ratings.
