The National Advocacy Program on TB Elimination was successfully held in Dhaka
November 27, 2024: A national advocacy program on tuberculosis (TB) elimination, sponsored by the United Nations High-Level Meeting (UNHLM), was held today at the Lakeshore Hotel, Banani, Dhaka. Organized by Khulna Mukti Seba Sangstha (KMSS), the event brought together divisional consultants, microbiologists, academics, and TB specialists to discuss strategies for eradicating TB in Bangladesh.
The program was chaired by Afroza Akhter, Executive Director of KMSS, and graced by Professor Dr. Gias U. Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the School of Public Health and Biosciences at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ahsan emphasized the critical need for sustained advocacy and collaboration in the fight against TB, stating:

Dr. Ahmed Pervez, Dhaka Division Consultant, delivered a keynote presentation outlining the progress, challenges, and roadmap of the End TB Program in Bangladesh. His insights highlighted the nation’s ongoing efforts to align with global TB elimination targets.
Afroza Akhter concluded the program by expressing gratitude to all participants and underscoring the importance of collective efforts to combat TB effectively.
