CUB Law Department Participates in the 5th Jessup Workshop, Building Advocacy Skills
The CUB Law Department is pleased to announce its participation in the 5th Jessup Workshop, titled "May It Please The Court: Unlocking the Essentials of Mooting and Advocacy," held on November 1-2, 2024, at Brac University. Organized by Brac University in collaboration with the Department of Justice's Office of Overseas and Prosecutorial Development and Training (DOJ/OPDAT), Hearth Bangladesh, and the International Law Students Association (ILSA), this two-day workshop served as a platform for law students to develop critical mooting skills.
Led by Mashrur Rahman Mahin, Lecturer in the Department of Law and Adviser to the CUB Law and Moot Club, CUB’s team of first-semester students participated actively. Team members Syeda Maisha Mashiat, Maria Rashid Chowdhury, Umma Ayesha Khanom Chompa, Pabon Das, and Monghla Ching Chak engaged in sessions covering the Jessup competition framework, core principles of international law, the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, research techniques, and effective appellate writing. Additionally, they practiced oral argumentation and received guidance on responding to questions, with insights drawn from previous Jessup performances.
CUB Law aims to foster a new generation of mooters, equipping them with advocacy skills for the Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of the Jessup competition. This workshop underscores CUB’s commitment to cultivating a strong foundation in international legal advocacy for emerging law students.
