CUB Hosts Workshop on Preparing OBE Based Course Materials for BAETE Accreditation
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) hosted a workshop on Preparing OBE Based Course Materials for BAETE Accreditation on 09th December, 2024 at the CUB Auditorium. The workshop aimed at stimulating the knowledge base of faculty members and concerned CUB staff in BAETE Accreditation.
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Zahurul Alam, Director of IQAC and Dean, School of Business. Professor Abul H. M. G. Azam, Professor-cum-Adviser, East West University was the Keynote Speaker. Among present were Professor Dr. H M Jahirul Haque, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh, Registrar, CUB, and all faculty members.
The workshop began with an inaugural speech by the Chair, who highlighted the crucial role of BAETE Accreditation in enhancing the credibility and transferability of Bangladeshi qualifications within the global landscape.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. H M Jahirul Haque underlined the relevance of BAETE Accreditation implementation. He reiterated proactive role of CUB in ensuring compliance to all GOB and UGC Guidelines since the inception. He also appreciated the proactive role of IQAC in preparing and facilitating all IQAC related activities.
The Key Note Speaker Professor Azam’s insightful presentation focused on the core elements of OBE, including defining learning outcomes, developing assessment methods, and mapping outcomes to program objectives. “Outcome-Based Education is the cornerstone of global academic standards,” he stated, adding practical examples to demonstrate effective implementation strategies.
The workshop included interactive sessions, group activities, and practical exercises to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary for preparing OBE-based course materials. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including aligning course objectives with program outcomes and designing effective rubrics for assessment.
An engaging Open Discussion and Q&A session marked a significant part of the workshop, facilitated by Professor Azam. The session provided an open forum for participants to delve deeper into the practical aspects of BAETE Accreditation and its implementation, sharing both challenges and solutions.
The workshop concluded with a pledge from participants to actively support the adoption of BAETE Accreditation within their respective institutions, helping to foster quality education in Bangladesh and prepare graduates for the competitive global market. Dr. Ifat Al Baqee, Additional Director of IQAC thanked all participants, expressing optimism that the insights gained would drive future initiatives to uphold academic excellence in CUB.
